Dentistry involves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting the teeth, gums and maxillofacial (associated with the jaw and face) region of the body. General dentistry relates to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and tooth health for you and your family.
Ideally, we believe the best dentistry is preventative. Typically we recommend that you visit your dentist regularly – at least once every six or twelve months – to ensure proper oral hygiene and functionality. Regular checkups and oral health maintenance prevent the development of serious dental problems that can require costly treatment. If you remain vigilant and visit your dentist regularly, you can enjoy good dental health.
Did you know that one in four of us in the UK are unhappy with our smile? With advances in modern dentistry, it is no longer just a case of filling and taking out teeth.
If your teeth are stained, discoloured, worn, chipped, broken, misaligned, misshapen, or have gaps between them, modern cosmetic dentistry can give you a better smile. A “smile makeover” improves the appearance of your smile through one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures. Cosmetic dentists work with you to develop a treatment plan. Below you’ll find some information that can help you learn more about the various types of cosmetic dental procedures available.
Dental implants & dentures
Implants are a simple and attractive method to fill gaps and to replace missing teeth and can be used for a wide range of treatment.
A small but strong post is used in place of a missing tooth root and a ceramic tooth is then placed on top of this. One implant can replace a single missing tooth, two or four implants can secure a denture, or multiple implants can be used to replace all the teeth in the mouth.
If you have a few or all of your teeth missing, one solution is to have a denture. A denture is made from hard-wearing material that mimics the look of teeth and gums to give your mouth a natural appearance. Your denture will be made to fit snugly on your gums and you will be able to remove it for cleaning. Modern dentures look very natural, are comfortable and hard-wearing.
